About Us

Ladies of the Bower and Lords of the Tower is a family run group based in Beckenham, Kent, affiliated to the Medieval Seige Society.
We have 7 years experience of re-enactment, living history and longbow archery. We have conducted extensive research about the family and the era we represent and have amassed enough equipment to portray the luxury and splendour of a medieval noble's lifestyle.

Who We Represent and why?

The NEVILLE / pLANTAGENET fAMILY

The Plantagenet family was one of the wealthiest and most powerful families in England at this time, giving birth to two English Kings, Edward IV and Richard III.

As a group we have found the medieval nobility to be a relatively under-represented group on the re-enactment scene. We seek to place our focus on the domestic side of medieval life, something often overshadowed by the equally impressive military displays. The ages of this family at this time match our own quite closely making it a more realistic portrayal

Finally, if you have to camp, you might as well do it in style!

WHAT IS OUR AIM?

Our aim as a re-enactment society is to present an accurate impression of people who lived in the 14th and 15th centuries.
This means that whilst some of us re-enact historically accurate figures others have chosen to create a character based upon their knowledge of social roles within the society of the time. This approach enables the public to see a cross section of medieval society.

Our enacampment features a range of medieval tents, cooking equipment and historically accurate costumes which provide the public with an accurate as possible impression of history.
(See our Living History Page for more details and pictures).

At each event we attend we have aimed to portray Medieval Life to the best of our ability. We have offered the chance for the public to get up close to our displays and hopefully, many people go away from one of our events feeling like they have learnt something new and intriguing about the medieval period.
